Solution 02

Ground Deformation & Natural Hazards

Understand ground movement and surface change with satellite time series, terrain data and analysis shaped around your engineering questions.

The challenge

Where is the ground changing, and what does it mean?

Local surveys and site observations can leave gaps in the spatial or historical picture. Infrastructure, mining and slope assessment projects need evidence of where movement occurs, how it develops over time and which areas require closer investigation.

Our approach

Put change in its spatial and temporal context

We analyse available observations and relate the results to terrain, assets and project conditions. Findings are delivered with the method assumptions and data limitations needed for responsible interpretation.

  • InSAR deformation analysis and time series
  • Multi-temporal surface change assessment
  • Geospatial analysis for landslide and rockfall assessment
  • Integration with project, terrain and ground observation data

Example deliverables

From observations to engineering evidence

Outputs are tailored to the available data and the decisions your team needs to support.

Deformation maps

Mapped displacement observations with coverage, reference information and quality indicators for the agreed area and period.

Time series

Displacement histories for suitable measurement locations, with acquisition dates and context for interpreting trends.

Spatial assessments

Surface change and terrain analyses connected to slopes, infrastructure corridors, mining areas or other project features.

Technical reports

Methods, results, uncertainties and recommendations for further investigation, with agreed geospatial files for your team.

Methods & data

Use each observation within its limits

Work may combine satellite radar time series, optical imagery, DEMs, point clouds and site measurements. InSAR measures displacement along the radar line of sight; terrain geometry, vegetation, coherence and acquisition history affect the information available.

We assess data suitability before defining the analysis. These studies support site assessment and engineering investigation; they do not predict earthquakes or guarantee advance warning of hazardous events.

Suitable projects

Support investigation across sites and corridors

  • Engineering and geotechnical consultancies investigating ground movement
  • Infrastructure owners assessing assets and surrounding terrain
  • Mining teams examining deformation and surface change
  • Research and public-sector teams studying landslide or rockfall conditions

Remote sensing results should be interpreted alongside the relevant geological, geotechnical and site evidence.
